Our client Carden Park Hotel, Golf Resort and Spa commenced work in November and finished at the end of April. It has since been reported that this was the wettest Winter on record since 1910 creating further challenges to test the estates team.
A 16 strong team lead by Peter Pattenden, golf courses and estates manager, managed to achieve the bunker improvements to the course while it was still open to guests to play golf.
Peter said “The old bunker construction was based on revetted links which had collapsed over the years making play difficult. Each bunker was assessed individually and a plan made on how to improve them taking into account the impact each had on the standard of the game played. We are really proud of the hard work the team have done and the results are clear to see on the course.”
In total approximately 8000 square metres of turf were re-laid during the project, 2000 metres of new drains were installed and 1000 tonnes of new sand used.
The fully refurbished course is now open for play. The new bunker shapes of a rolling contour including high sand splashes so golfers can see each bunker before their shot is played and make decisions on how to tackle the course to get to the green.
Completing the Cheshire course improvements is part of the redevelopment project by Carden Park Hotel Golf Resort and Spa which in the future will also include refurbishments of all 196 bedrooms and the bar and lounge area.
Hamish Ferguson, general manager said “The Cheshire golf course bunker project combined with the Nicklaus golf course onsite now means we can boast one of the finest golfing experiences in the Cheshire area. All work being completed is to enhance the guest experience when choosing to visit or stay at Carden
Park.”
Carden Park is a compete resort offering award winning facilities. Set within 1000 acres of Cheshire countryside golfers can enjoy an overnight golf break in one of the 196 bedrooms or relax after their game with the onsite spa offering over 40 spa treatments to choose from.
Golfers can also experience the new look Cheshire course with the exclusive Carden Country Golf Membership or with the Summer Sizzler golf games from £40.00 per person plus Sunday Driver breaks.
