We can barely contain our excitement as the players have been announced for the celebrity tournament at Cheshire resort! Tennis legends Goran Ivanisevic, Mark Philippoussis, Peter McNamara, Mikael Pernfors, Henri Leconte Younes El Aynaoui and Richard Krajicek are preparing to grace The Mere Golf Resort and Spa’s own centre court this year for the annual Boodles Tennis At The Mere tournament next month (26th - 28th June).
Returning to the fabulous luxury 150 acre Cheshire resort for the second year running, hundreds of guests will be entertained by the tournament’s largest line up of tennis legends yet, both on and off the court, over the three day tournament!
Commenting on the impressive line-up, Mark Boler, CEO at The Mere Golf Resort and Spa said, "This year's Boodles Tennis at The Mere is shaping up to be a knock out event with the tournament welcoming back some superb players and personalities . Goran Ivanisevic made his debut with us last year and impressed us all with his first class talent and exuberant character."
Launched in 2010 and billed as the North West’s most elegant garden party, Boodles Tennis at The Mere combines world-class tennis from grand slam veterans with award winning hospitality. The tennis is the star highlight but the hundreds of corporate guests attending will also enjoy a champagne reception and a three course menu designed by the resort’s Executive Head Chef Mark Walker using the finest local ingredients.
The resort, which is celebrating 30 years under the Boler family stewardship this year, is busy prepping for the showcase event. Tournament Director, Vicky Collins commented “This has become one of most popular events in the region’s calendar attracting guests from all over the North West and this year’s event promises to be the best yet. We have two new guest hospitality areas, The Brownson Gallery and The Pavillion terrace for panoramic views of the court and this year we’re also introducing DJ tennis on the Saturday night which will feature our tennis legends battle out their matches to music”
It's time to get excited and outfits planned as preparations are already underway for the event with a total of 1000 bottles of Moet & Chandon, 2,000 bottles of wine, 500 punnets of strawberries and 24 cases of Pimms have been specially ordered for the three days, sounds like the perfect order to us!
Funds raised over the three days will be donated to Enable Sport, a charity that seeks to give every disabled child the opportunity to reach their potential in sport. Disabled athletes need specialist equipment in order to participate in competitive sport locally, regionally and nationally, which can cost up to 100 times more than in able-bodied competition. Last year over £13,000 was raised over the three days.
gbmarketing will be attending the event on the Friday (Ladies Day) and we look forward to you seeing you all there with a glass of Moet & Chandon.
