Hello readers, we have recently had the pleasure of visiting the German Christmas market in Manchester. As huge fans of the markets all over the North West we are happy to inform that Manchester’s own is particularly fabulous. With a warm atmosphere and smiles in extreme overabundance, even the scroogiest of folk will find it difficult to keep their cheeks from rising to their eyes. It once more proved itself as the perfect place to cement yourself within the Christmas spirit.
If you’re a fan of beer then you will not be disappointed. Quick service and friendly conversation made for a multitude of happy men and women, and at only £4 a pint you soon find yourself as merry as the twinkling Father Christmas overlooking Albert Square. The mulled wine was a particular highlight for us, appropriately served in traditional mugs that keep your drink nice and hot. You will find that your nose is treated to a varied palette, with sporadic wooden stalls sporting the likes of roasting bratwurst, delicious pancakes and a variation of waffles and treats. The smell of Nutella will follow you throughout the kilometre long festival, consistently and delightfully tickling your nostrils.
Following a beers/bratwurst combination you can’t help but enjoy your transformation from interested participant into the personification of the big red guy himself, singing carols with strangers and wishing festivities to all whom you meet. We had a lovely time and recommend a visit whilst you’re still able. We hope this blog has brought you closer to the Christmas spirit, and if it hasn’t then we’re sure it’s shown you where to find it. Let us know if you have any stories to tell about your own adventures at the Christmas markets this year in the comments below and hashtag your photos at #nwxmasmarkets. Finally, we hope you have a very merry Christmas.
