The Mere Golf Resort & Spa in Knutsford has been awarded Best Hotel at the Cheshire & Lancashire Life Food and Drink Awards. We were lucky enough to attend the prestigious annual event that took place this week at the Hilton Manchester hotel and celebrated the country’s finest hotels, dining pubs, restaurants, food producers and chefs. It was a fantastic night and competition was fierce amongst the categories and the winners were chosen by a panel of independent judges. We were delighted when The Mere won the award following its £15 million redevelopment in 2012, which included the introduction of its new 81-bedroom hotel.
“This is a fantastic achievement for us and we are absolutely delighted to win such a highly coveted award. It recognises the consistent effort and commitment to delivering an outstanding service by the entire team at The Mere,” commented co-founder and CEO Mark Boler.

The resort is fast becoming the luxury destination of choice in the north west of England. It received industry recognition from Trip Advisor earlier in the year, which awarded The Mere with its Certificate of Excellence, placing it in the top-performing 10% of all hotels worldwide. Last month, the resort was shortlisted for the Good Spa Guide ‘Therapist of the Year’ following the 2012 5 Bubbles accolade for quality and service
“We’ve been very focused on ensuring all areas of the resort deliver an outstanding experience to every single customer that comes through our infamous arch and stays at our resort. There’s no room for complacency in the hospitality industry and this independent award acknowledges we’ve achieved since we re-launched the resort,” commented Chairman and co-founder, Gary Corbett. “This is playing out with strong trading in all areas of the resort. We remain optimistic that we will see growth across the business over the next year.”
The Mere Golf Resort & Spa re-launched its resort in March 2012 with an 81 bedroom hotel, two new restaurants and extensively refurbished conference and banqueting facilities. Set in 150 acres of private Cheshire parkland, the resort boasts an R&A qualifying championship golf course and award winning spa. We absolutely love The Mere and we are so happy they have got the recognition they deserve by winning this award. The MEREKat seemed happy at the event too!
